Environmental safety
keeping our environment safe and clean
Environmental safety is our responsibility
As a manufacturing company, we understand the impact on the environment as well as our responsibility in promoting a healthy and safe living environment for the local community. Hence, since our inception we have been fully committed to controlling pollution and setting high safety standards for our operations.
Our environmental management system and policy is developed in accordance with global standards and international laws in which many of our customers are accustomed to. We also include the 3 R’s (reduce, reuse and recycle) in our policy — a practice that has been widely embraced throughout the company.
On top of our internal policy, we subscribe to pertinent standards and regulations stipulated by the government bodies, regulatory agencies and customers.
Through our strict compliance and implementation, we managed to achieve the ISO 14001 certification for environmental management in 2007. Our achievement was subsequently rewarded with a grant by the Small & Medium Industries Development Corporation (SMIDEC).
We also actively participate in various green programmes initiated by the government and international bodies, such as the SWITCH-Asia programme — a project funded by the European Union (EU) and jointly promoted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) which is also an organisation under the Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia. With the support of the programme, we went on to become the TOP SME AWARD winner including been granted a 10-year carbon credit by the VCS Registry under the Biomass Entrepreneurs Nurturing Programme (EUM-BENP) sponsored by the European Union.
Keeping our workplace healthy and safe has always been a top corporate priority to us. As a dedicated employer as well as a responsible corporate citizen, it is our obligation to ensure our operational environment and conditions are conducive to the health and safety of our employees as well as our visitors and the neighbourhood.
We have an active health and safety committee led by our own DOSH-certified safety & health officer to take charge of training employees, enforcing safety policy, and maintaining ongoing oversight of potential workplace hazards. To ensure that workplace hazards and risks are kept to a minimum., all our operational activities including plant layout, equipment design, procedures and processes, are subject to stringent risk assessment.
Individual-wise, we recognize the fact that our employees may be exposed to a variety of workplace hazards in the course of performing their functions, hence it is mandatory that our employees wear the appropriate personal protective equipment when working at the plant.
It is worth mentioning that our strict compliance with workplace safety standards has earned us a nomination from the DOSH Perak, for the SMI category of the National DOSH Excellence Award in 2005.
